BuddyRadar (Beta)
PlaceEngine for Skype

BuddyRadar is a Skype Extra that works with PlaceEngine so that you can exchange location information with buddies in your contact list.

This product uses the Skype API but is not endorsed, certified or otherwise approved in any way by Skype.

Preparation

Before installing BuddyRadar you must have the following installed on your PC.

• The latest version of Skype (Skype 3.6 or higher).
• Java Version 6.0 or higher. You can check the version of Java installed on your PC here.
• PlaceEngine Client Software. You must have PlaceEngine Client Software for Windows XP or Windows Vista (depending on your OS) installed on your PC. For more information please refer to the Install Page at the PlaceEngine site.

Download

Please download BuddyRadar from our Download page. For instructions on how to install BuddyRadar, please refer to our Installing BuddyRadar page.

Once you install BuddyRadar it will start running in your taskbar. For more info on how to use BuddyRadar, please the Help page.

Notice

BuddyRadar uses the Skype mood message field to exchange location information between friends in your contact list. It automatically concatenates a custom data string that is used to encode location information (latitude and longitude) and a timestamp. It takes the form of a mysterious string that starts with the "#" in your mood message. This custom data string will appear on your contact's Skype contact window even though they might not be using BuddyRadar. However it will only be displayed in its encoded state. Please recommend BuddyRadar to your friends who might notice this mysterious custom data string, to spread the word about BuddyRadar.
