FAQ
General
Q: What is this application for?
A: "Oedo Yokai" is a book-based application for the iPhone/iPod touch about the Japanese "Yokai" (Sprites and Spirits). It is a collection of "Yokai" stories associated with the areas near the subway stations of the Oedo Line in Tokyo, Japan.
Q: How do I start Oedo Yokai in Japanese?
A: You need to change the language configuration of your iPhone/iPod touch:
[Settings]->[General]->[International]->[Language]->[Japanese]
Q: Where do I submit bug reports and/or requests?
A: Please submit them to:

by email. We are grateful for any feedback we receive.
Usage
Q: How do I turn pages?
A: You can either:
Tap the finger icons on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, or
flick on the screen. Tap the icons on the Table of Contents page to jump
within the book accordingly.
Q: Can I jump pages from the Table of Contents?
A:Yes. Tap on the icons next to the section names.
Q: How do I return to the book cover?
A: Tap the book icon in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen to jump to the cover page. Tape the book icon twice to go to the cover when the Bookmark Page or the Collection Box is displayed.
Bookmarks
Q: I cannot place anymore bookmarks. What should I do?
A. Check the Japanese character on the Bookmark Icon on the Menu Bar.
If you see a 0, you have no more bookmarks left, and thus you cannot place additional bookmarks. The maxium number of bookmarks that you can use at once is three (3 is depicted as three horizontal lines, 2 with two horizontal lines, and 1 is a single horizontal line). To return bookmarks from the book to the Bookmark Space, simply tap on the bookmark at the bookmarked page.
Q: How do I recover my bookmarks (maximum number of bookmarks is three), or how do I return bookmarks from a bookmarked page to the bookmark space?
A: Bookmarks will be bitten off when Yokai are summoned, but they still work as bookmarks. You have to return them to the Bookmark Space to be able to use them on another page. The number of bookmarks you can use at any given time is depicted in the Bookmark Icon on the Menu Bar in Japanese characters. A single horizontal line denotes one bookmark left, two horizontal lines means you have two bookmarks left, and three horizontal lines means you have all three left.
Q: Can I recover bitten off bookmarks to their original images?
A: Yes, but you have to reset the book to its original state,
and you can only do this after you summon all the Yokai and release them.
Summoning Yokai
Q: What do the red characters stamped on the Yokai mean?
A: The characters are Japanese for "Summoned".
Q: Can I return the summoned Yokai to Yokai pages?
A: Yes, but only after you summon all the Yokai. Then, you will be able to release them.
Q: How do you release the Yokai?
A: A special button will appear on the Yokai Collection Box after you summon all the Yokai. You can release the Yokai by tapping on this button.
Q: I really can't figure out how to summon the Yokai...
A: You have to bookmark the Yokai you want to summon with the appropriate bookmark. Please read the story carefully to find the keyword associated with the Yokai.
After bookmarking the Yokai page, close the application. When you restart Oedo Yokai and the bookmark string is swaying, you have selected the appropriate bookmark for the Yokai.
Tap the swaying string and the Yokai will be summoned!
For example, E-21: "The Old Raccoon from the Raccoon Hole" is a story about tanuki and the owner of a noodle shop.
So, try using the "Tanuki Soba" bookmark!
Misc
Q: The application is unstable and I am having problems.
A: We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
There have been some reports on the App Store about problems with our application.
However, we have been unsuccessful in recreating these problems.
If you experience any problems with our application, it would be greatly
appreciated if you can let us know your iPhone OS version and what applications
you were running before Oedo Yokai (listening to music, running Safari, etc.) via email
at the following address:

.
When memory is being used by other applications, Oedo Yokai does tend to run slower (for example page turns).
